A new category was recently added to SexSmartFilms,  Advertising/Sexuality.  There are currently 89 spots from 37 countries. There are PSAs and commercials.  Some use humor, others use fear tactics.  It's eye opening to see what is airing on TV around the world.   Here's one that's been very popular from Belgium

In 1981 Edwin G. Belzer, Beverly Whipple and John Perry published Pelvic Muscle Strength of Female Ejaculators: Evidence in support of a New Theory of Orgasm in the Journal of Sex Research.  That was twenty-nine years ago. It was controversial then and it remains so today.  It was recently reported by the BBC that a study in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine declares the G Spot  is a myth.

What we do know, have known and have illustrated is there are some women who find it pleasurable to stimulate the anterior wall of the vagina.  Many of those women achieve high states of sexual arousal and have orgasms as a result.  Some of those women expel fluid during orgasm. No one can argue you with this.  Prior to 1981 many women who had this experience thought there was something wrong with them.

Its funny that all this was said in a short film produced in 1981.

Several viewers have suggested we add Discussion Questions to each video description.  Their rationale is if these films are tools used to facilitate  discussion between student and teacher, therapist and client,  and sexual partners; discussion questions would help achieve this goal.  With this in mind we will begin adding questions in about a month.

If you have any suggestions please submit your question (s) to [email protected]  Please be sure to include the film title for your suggested question.

A Historical Evening with Paul Gebhard

Indiana University South Bend

made possible by

The Hugh M. Hefner Foundation

SexSmartFilms is proud to add A Historical Evening with Paul Gebhard to the collection.  On July 30, 2005 Dr. Elizabeth (Betty) Mooney, Research Associate at the Kinsey Institute from 1967 to 1975 and Lecturer in Sociology and Anthropology interviewed 88 year old Paul H. Gebhard. They reminisce and document Dr. Gebhard's ten years working with Dr. Kinsey (1946-1956) and his term as the second Director of the Kinsey Institute (1956-1982).  This is a must see for anyone who has any interest in sex research. There are some amazing inside stories that I had never heard. It gives me great pleasure to know they have been preserved.

SEX THERAPY

One of  the most popular sex therapy tools for couples has been the Sensate Focus Exercises developed by Masters and Johnson in the 1960s.  SexSmartFilms is proud to be carrying The Sexual Pleasure for Couples Series.  This three film series was developed by Dr. William Stayton of Morehouse School of Medicine.  Each of the three films contains seven sensate focus exercises and each utilizes the same script.  The only difference being that one film has two heterosexual couples, one has two gay couples and the third has two lesbian couples.

We are seeing that many therapists are using these programs in their offices and many are having their patients go home, watch the exercise and practice with their partner.  We have also heard from those who are using them for self-help.

It is clear that these exercises still work and are very helpful for couples dealing with their sexual relationship.

MOST VIEWED FILM

I was recently asked what is the most viewed program on SexSmartFilms?  I honestly didn't know so I went in and did some checking.  Much to my surprise it is a film I produced in 1981,  Orgasmic Expulsions of Fluid in the Sexually Stimulated Female.  This nine minute film was the rage when it was released in 16mm.  Beverly Whipple and her colleagues had recently published their research on the "G Spot" and it was the talk of the professional community as well as the late night talk shows.  It amazes me how popular this film still is and how the G Spot still remains such a hot topic.  Although the film has a dated look the information is still accurate.

The True Story of How Babies are Made

SexSmartFilms ha secured the film rights to the 1973 children's book The True Story of How Babies are Made. This book was written and illustrated by Per Holm Knudsen. The film is being animated by Rhode Island School of Design graduate Eric Sean Benedict.

"There have been many books, even for small children, about the coming of a new baby.  For one reason or another, however, none of these books has clearly and truthfully shown the very beginning, the act of making love.  This book is not afraid to be honest and clear.  As it says on the last page, "This is the true story of how babies are made.
